A Playground of Sustainable Joy - Ngomongo Village, Kenya
Introduction:
We are thrilled to share an extraordinary project that has touched our hearts and brought immense joy to the children of Ngomongo Village, nestled in the Korogocho slums of Kenya. The Jango Project, in collaboration with the Warembo Wasanii Art Studio—an inspiring eco-chic and women-empowering initiative—embarked on a transformative mission to create a unique playground. What sets this playground apart? It is built entirely from recycled materials, showcasing sustainable innovation at its finest.
Collaboration for Change:
Guided by Joan Otieno, the visionary founder of Warembo Wasanii Art Studio, we recognized the urgent need for a safe space where children could play and thrive. Ngomongo Village lacked such an area due to the occupation of available land by local cartels. To address this pressing issue, the Jango Project and Warembo Wasanii Art Studio joined forces, determined to provide the children of Ngomongo Village with a secure haven for laughter, learning, and growth.
Phase 1 - Clearing the Path:
In 2022, Phase 1 of the project was a resounding success. Thanks to your generous support, we secured a plot of land and meticulously cleared and leveled the space. This critical groundwork laid the foundation for the playground's construction, creating a promising space for the dreams of these resilient children to flourish.
Phase 2 - Building the Foundation:
Currently, we are passionately fundraising for Phase 2 of this groundbreaking project. With your contributions, we aim to lay the foundation for the playground, inching closer to fulfilling the aspirations of these children. Your support will play a vital role in creating a vibrant and engaging space that inspires creativity and fosters a deep connection to sustainable living.
Phase 3 - Unleashing Creativity:
Looking ahead to Phase 3, we envision a playground adorned with recycled treasures—climbing structures, swings, and slides—breathing new life into playtime. By using recycled materials, we showcase the power of education through engagement, instilling an understanding of environmental stewardship from an early age.
Replicating Success, Inspiring Change:
Ngomongo Village is just the beginning. Our vision extends beyond its boundaries. We aspire to replicate this model of a recycled materials playground, crafting safe havens for children in Kenya and beyond. With your unwavering commitment and continued support, we can bring joy, learning, and security to more communities, empowering children to realize their potential and embrace a future filled with hope.
Join us in making a difference. Let's transform the world one playground at a time, nurturing the imaginations of young minds and empowering future generations to become guardians of our planet. Together, we can create a brighter and more sustainable future for children everywhere.
Donate today and be a part of this remarkable journey. Together, we can create a lasting impact and inspire change that ripples through generations.
